Broom Boats will be joining the growing Sandbanks Boat Show this weekend, with our stylish new 35 Coupe available to view. Step aboard this contemporary Broom boat which combines the best of Broom cruisability with up to date styling and a range of engine options to provide river cruising or offshore speed.

The Sandbanks Show will be held at Salterns Marina in Poole this weekend, Saturday 11th – Sunday 12th May from 10am – 5pm daily and admission is free.

As well as the Broom 35, there will be over 70 new boats on display from all the leading boat brands as well as a wide range of marine products, both on the water and ashore.

Broom owner Andrew Smyth is featured in MBY this month with the story of how he came to own a Broom 42 and why he’s in love with the west coast of Scotland. After a well thought out search this former sailor found that the versatility and practicality of the semi-displacement Broom with its low air draught and functional design perfectly fitted the bill. Having the flexibility to potter around inland or make a timely passage to a new location turned out to be exactly what this experienced customer was looking for.

Norfolk Boat Sales Open Day

Over 100 new and used boats will be on display this weekend at both the Brundall and Wroxham offices of Broom dealer Norfolk Boat Sales.

A brand new Broom 395 will be the star of the show, the centrepiece of the Wroxham event, fresh from its appearance at the Horning Boat Show. The 395 is the latest of our new launches and is sure to impress with its stylish and spacious interior and legendary sea keeping qualities.

In Brundall you can step aboard more than 20 pre-loved Brooms, as well as enjoying a glass of wine courtesy of Bijou Bottles and an NBS cup cake! Broom Boats are celebrating 115 years in business this year, and will be offering factory tours throughout the day around this historic site where all Broom boats are still made completely by hand, from hand laid GRP moulding to craft built joinery and custom made upholstery.

Broom Anniversary Pageant

Last year we had the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant and this year you can take part in the Broom Boats 115th Anniversary Pageant. We are celebrating a special birthday this year and we’d love you to join us. We’re planning to assemble a flotilla of Broom models which have been built over the years for an anniversary sail past and exhibition.

According to our records there are over 40 different models of Broom boat which have been built since the 1950s and are still in use on the Broads or around the UK. We’d love to bring together one boat of each model to represent the class and show why Broom’s are the longest established motor boat manufacturer in the UK. All boats built by Broom Boats, or it’s forerunner CJ Broom are eligible to take part, whether they are wooden or GRP, former hire boats, or luxury private boats.

The event will be held at Broom’s marina in Brundall on Saturday 27th July, and participating boats will be accommodated on site over that weekend. On the day there will be the opportunity to take a tour of the factory, browse stalls from a few selected partners, as well as take a historic tour of the pageant boats.

Boat Show competition winner announced

Local boat owner Delia Frost was the winner of our London Boat Show competition to win a Broom hire boat holiday.

Delia was amongst the many visitors to the stand who provided valuable feedback on our show boats and is planning to take her holiday on the Broom Captain later in the year.

One month, two boat shows

As the London Boat Show 2013 drew to a close yesterday, we turn our attention to the second show of the year, already underway in Dusseldorf in Germany. The Broom 35 Coupe and the aft cabin Broom 370 are on display in Hall 5 at the Dusseldorf Exhibition Centre, as part of the largest boat show in Europe.

The London show ended on a positive note with strong interest from several potential owners looking for a serious cruising boat with inland as well as cross-channel potential. Broom’s reputation for practicality and functionality continues to set it apart from other manufacturers, whilst the more contemporary interior designs now available satisfy those looking for a luxurious onboard lifestyle. The UK launch of the Broom 395 at the show received a positive response from visitors and the press, and the boat features alongside other show debuts in MBM’s best boats at the show video.

Another high point of the show has been the very high level of interest in Broom’s new boating holidays venture, offering luxury Broom boats for hire on the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads.

Broom nominated for motorboat award

Broom Boats are delighted to have been once again nominated for one of the industry’s most sought after awards, the MBM/MBY Motorboat of the Year award. The 35 Coupe has been nominated in the Wheelhouse and Walkaround category, recognising the innovative design and exceptional quality of this new Broom model.

The finalists have been invited to attend a prestigious awards ceremony at The Savoy Hotel during the London Boat Show in January when the winners will be announced.

This is the second year running that Broom Boats have been recognised in this way, with the new Broom 370 being nominated in the 2012 awards.

New term at Broom Sea School

Broom Sea School has announced dates for their 2013 programme, offering a range of RYA recognised training courses at their Brundall classroom.

The programme starts in January with the five day Day Skipper shorebased course from Monday 14th – Friday 18th January. A weekend course is also on the cards for those who want to save their holiday for use on the boat, six full days over three weekends on dates to be agreed during the first quarter of the year.

At the end of January there is the chance to join the Yachtmaster/Coastal Skipper shorebased course – the top level qualification for leisure skippers. Again running over five days, commencing on Monday 28th January through to Friday 1st February.

One day courses on the programme so far are a Sea Survival course on Saturday 9th March, followed by the VHF Marine Radio operators course on Sunday 10th March.

Also available subject to request are Marine Diesel Engines and the Radar course, with the first one to be held this Sunday already sold out.
