Broom Boats, the longest established boat builder in the UK, is exhibiting with De Vaart Yachting its’ award winning Broom 370 at the prestigious international Dusseldorf boat show, which is now open through to 29 January 2012. 400,000 visitors from across the world are expected to pass through the show in the next few days.
The Broom 370, which last month was nominated for IPC Media’s Motor Boat of the Year Award, was launched at last September’s Southampton Boat Show. Since the launch, 7 of the 370’s have been sold, with a combined sales value in excess of £2.3m. The versatile Broom 370, which has ocean, estuary and inland capability, has so far been sold into Holland, Germany, France, England and Ireland.
Mark Garner, managing Director of Broom said “our strategy is to beat this economic recession through significant investment in product development and opening up new export markets. There is no point sitting and waiting for the recession to finish, hoping that everything will be all right.”
Broom is clearly pursuing an aggressive product development strategy. Broom launched 2 new boats in 2011, has 3 new boats currently in development for 2012 and 2 with their design team for 2013. Graham Warren, Design & Development Director said “We are very fortunate to have the skills on site to design, develop and manufacture our own proprietary mould tools and this is clearly giving us an edge, which has stimulated increased overseas demand. We have just appointed a sub-dealer in Holland and Germany and we have plans in advanced progress to appoint further dealers in France, China and Russia.”
